The Ethical Slut: A practical guide to polyamory, open relationships and other freedoms in sex and love
Janet w. hardy and dossie easton
This book has been a game changer for Myrina and for me, and in our opinion it is a must-read for anyone seriously contemplating non-monogamy. It is an indispensable guide to communicating, navigating through jealousy, discussing your needs with your partner(s) and generally opening up one’s relationship(s) in a thoughtful and ethical manner.
Sex at dawn: how we mate, why we stray and what it means for modern relationships
Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha
I love geeking out on sex and sexuality, and this book fills that need for me AND it appeals to my nerdy scientific nature as well! It is a treatise on the divide between human evolutionary biology and societal normative behavior as concerns sex and relationships, specifically how we evolved as a species to be non-monogamous and how we have been socially programmed to be monogamous against our nature (at least that’s my reading). Don’t be put off; I know I described this in an uber nerdy fashion, but it truly is a fascinating and illuminating read. Beware, if you are offended by the concept of human evolution as opposed to creation by a higher power, this book may not be for you (it suits me perfectly but Myrina and I once found ourselves in a very heated biological/theological conversation with playmates about this book).
She Comes first: the thinking man's guide to Pleasuring a woman
Ian Kerner, Ph. D.
I absolutely love to pleasure women orally, and this is my go-to book for understanding female anatomy, female sexual response and oral sex techniques. Dr. Kerner provides his overall philosophy of prioritizing female pleasure, which I whole-heartedly agree with, together with an excellent guided tour through the clitoral network, finishing with a wealth of practical, hands-on (and tongue-on) techniques. I have read this very comprehensive book cover to cover many times (and marked up my hard copy with highlighting and many margin notes- I’m a “hard copy” reader for that very reason) and I have always learned something new each time. This is an amazing book, and in my opinion required reading for those of us who want to take a deep dive into going down (see what I did there??)
Women’s Anatomy of Arousal: Secret Maps to Buried Pleasure
Sheri Winston
This book is a gold mine for those of us who absolutely adore feminine anatomy and all of the sexy ways to worship and pleasure women. Sheri discusses female arousal and the network of interconnected erectile tissues and erogenous zones in a holistic, systemic manner, helping the reader to understand how the various components of this network operate in concert to produce incredible pleasure. The detailed paragraphs on locating and stimulating the vestibular bulbs (did I mention I’m a sex geek?) are alone worth the price of admission!
